Course Description:
The Fashion Design and Textile program at St. Magdalen Institute (SMI) combines creativity, craftsmanship, and technical expertise to prepare students for careers in the dynamic and ever-evolving fashion industry. This program is designed to nurture the artistic talents of aspiring fashion designers while providing them with a strong foundation in textiles, garment construction, and sustainable design practices.
Students will learn the fundamentals of fashion design, from sketching and pattern-making to sewing and fabric manipulation. They will explore global fashion trends, cultural influences, and sustainable practices, equipping them to create innovative designs that resonate in today’s markets.
The program spans 2.5 years, featuring classroom instruction, hands-on workshops, and industry collaboration projects. The final semester includes a practical internship or a fashion collection project, providing students with real-world experience.
Graduates will receive a diploma in Fashion Design and Textile, enabling them to work as designers, textile specialists, or entrepreneurs, or to continue their education in advanced fashion studies. They will be equipped to create their own fashion labels or contribute to the industry with innovative and market-ready designs.
