Interior Design and Architecture

Course Description:
The Interior Design and Architecture program at St. Magdalen Institute (SMI) is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to create functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable living and working spaces. This program blends design theory with practical skills, focusing on the creative and technical aspects of interior and architectural design. Students will learn to plan, design, and execute interior spaces that meet the needs of clients while considering cultural, environmental, and ergonomic factors.

Through a combination of lectures, studio work, field trips, and hands-on projects, students will explore the principles of design, architectural history, space planning, materials, lighting, and color theory. The program also covers building codes, construction techniques, and the integration of sustainable design practices. By the end of the program, students will be prepared to work as interior designers, architects, or design consultants, with a strong foundation in both design aesthetics and technical expertise.

By combining design creativity with technical expertise, this program aims to empower students to become influential designers who can shape the built environment and contribute to sustainable development.
